Auditions Episode 2/6: The Selected

Votes shown in brackets after artist's name, where known (in the order LW DM CC SC). Song choices (where known) are given with original performing artist - as in most cases the performer puts their own spin on it anyway. Artists are colour-coded according to their category: Boys (16-24), Girls (16-24), Over 25s, and Groups.

Rozelle Phillip (YYYY)
Best of the episode, this girl has a really great voice and a great story too.
DM: "Rozelle! That was incredible. What was beautiful is... What was beautiful is not only was the voice brilliant but that sparkle that we could see in your eye when you were singing, loving it so much. That was great."
CC: "Rozelle. That was one of the best versions of that song I have heard anybody sing."
LW: "Rozelle, when you walked on the stage I liked your personality anyway. I'm so glad you came all the way from Tobago. I'm so glad you came because you're what this show is all about; finding somebody, putting them in front of an audience, I loved it."
DM: "I'm getting goosebumps."
(Song choice: Jennifer Hudson - One Night Only)

Miss Fitz (YYYY)
This group of three girls had a really imaginative and different take on the Britney Spears song they performed. They're smart in their approach and also have good voices, especially Jenna.
CC: "I don't know who came up with that arrangement but I absolutely loved it. This is my favourite girl band and thank God you came through the door today."
DM: "That was sensational, the vocals, loved it."
LW: "It was an unusual song choice but it absolutely worked."
SC: "Well, girls, it was clever because normally we get five girls coming on doing a Girls Aloud song or a Sugababes song or a Spice Girls song which is so pointless."
LW: "Girls, your gamble absolutely paid off."
CC: "Keep doing what you're doing girls."
(Song choice: Britney Spears - Toxic)

Behrouz Ghaemi (YYYN)
I think for the song he chose ("Take Your Mama") he gave a really, really good performance. He is a very odd person though, verging on being scary.
CC: "Well it... it... I had to admit it was very entertaining!"
LW: "The thing is, you're really good, or really bad."
DM: "You're a cheeky little thing aren't you? You were very, very entertaining. It's a hard song to sing."
SC: "Look Behrouz. I think you are barking mad. You've got... God you've got strange eyes."
CC: "There is something intriguingly crazy about you."
LW: "He was good though."
SC: "He was fun, he's not a good singer though Louis. Would you buy his record?"
LW: "It depends."
SC: "You probably would actually, yeah."
(Song choice: Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama)

Jamie Archer (YYYY)
He came across as trying a bit too hard. The song he chose ("Sex On Fire") actually worked really well for him, but I'm not sure how he'd cope with more traditional pop songs.
CC: "Wow. You had me singing along, dancing along. Natural born entertainer."
DM: "Thank you for coming to the auditions. To see someone that loves the audience so much...that was brilliant."
LW: "James, you love performing, you love that stage, the audience love you. And we haven't had many singers like you on The X Factor before. I think you're great."
SC: "You know what I like about you, James: You're fearless. And you know how to perform; you got this lot on your side within ten seconds."
LW: "James, you stand out from the crowd."
CC: "This is really exciting now. Thank you."
CC: "Fantastic."
SC: "Just a great, great performer."
DM: "James, he's incredible."
SC: "He just worked it, won the crowd over because he's a great performer, and he's fearless, and I like that."
(Song choice: Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire)

Victoria Hughes (YYYN)
I think she's not quite there but definitely above average. She has a good sense of rhythm and did look like she was really getting into the groove of the music.
SC: "It's like saying to a poodle 'you can run as fast as a greyhound.' And they can't. Because we're looking for a greyhound. It's true."
LW: "She has the voice."
SC: "How do you know?"
LW: "I know, I heard her sing."
SC: "That was complete and utter torture to be honest with you."
(Song choice: Freda Payne - Band Of Gold)

Daryl Markham (YYYY)
I feel sorry for this guy, he has a touching story and he really deserves to do well. But unfortunately I don't think he's got a particularly outstanding voice. For his age he is doing well, but did falter in a few places.
DM: "Daryl, there's some people who just come on this stage and totally make an impact, and you certainly did."
LW: "Daryl, when you walked on the stage and you were so nervous, I thought it was going to be a really really bad audition and then you started to sing. You've got the most amazing commercial voice. I love it."
CC: "Yeah I didn't... I didn't know if you were going to be able to carry on with the audition when I seen how emotional you were feeling but I believe you meant every word of it."
DM: "It was amazing, such an emotional performance."
SC: "He was a sincere guy."
(Song choice: Crazy Horse - I Don't Want To Talk About It)

Michael Hough (YYYN)
He seemed a bit out of time, but maybe it was just the nerves.
LW: "Could be really good."
CC: "I loved the song choice; suited your voice really well."
SC: "My problem actually sometimes is you. I don't think you'll ever be good enough."
(Song choice: The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved)

Rochelle Morrison (YYYN)
I found her a bit boring and monotone when singing. But she's a nice person.
LW: "I liked everything about you actually."
SC: "For me Rochelle you're the member of the girl band who doesn't normally sing, but on tour goes forward to sing a couple of lines and then everybody forgets."
LW: "It's amazing. It was. Hang on, am I right or am I wrong?"
(Song choice: Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music)
